Nick Cave to Rewrite 'The Crow'

In 1994, it seems like we couldn't get enough or get away from The Crow. The cult film also saw the on-set tragic death of its star, Brandon Lee. The incredible soundtrack that featured The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots, and others was also pretty steady in the minds of countless grunge kids growing up around that time.

Well here we are, 16 years later, and word on the street is that Nick Cave is set to write the screenplay for the remake of the film. This is good. This is very good.

According to Consequence of Sound (via The Wrap), the Bad Seeds frontman is rewriting a script by Stephen Norrington (Aliens, Blade) and '"a major actor" will take the revenge story to the Southwest and urban setting of “Detroit or Pittsburgh or something like that."'

This could be very cool. Man, Cave has his hands full these days with all this film stuff and with the second Grinderman album out this September.

He made his screenwriting debut in 1998 with John Hillcoat's Ghosts ...of the Civil Dead. Almost a decade later he rejoined Hillcoat for the 2005 outlaw film starring Guy Pearce and Ray Winstone, The Proposition. As previously mentioned here, Hillcoat and Cave are supposedly working on a made-for-TV adaptation for Cave's latest novel, The Death of Bunny Munro.
