There's a New Dog in Town

Barack Obama, you're not the only political favorite in town these days. In Rabbit Hash, Kentucky last week, a red and white border collie named Lucy Lou was elected mayor. Lucy Lou campaigned against 10 other dogs, one cat, one opossum, one jackass, and one human.

Rabbit Hash, which is best known for having one of the oldest continuously operating General Stores in America, charged folks $1 in this friendly election, ultimately raising more than $21,900. All proceeds benefited the Rabbit Hash Historical Society

The three-legged springer spaniel Toby was runner-up with 4,596 votes, while Travis, a friendly gray and white cat, came in third with 3,721 votes. But in the end, it was it was Lucy Lou who won over this small Ohio River town with a whopping 8,085 votes. She succeeded black retriever Junior, who traveled over the Rainbow Bridge in May.

CBS Sunday Morning's Bill Geist was also in on the story.
