MacKenzieLand Hearts Diamond Dave

Major props to Big Matt for bringing this rad piece of rawk to my attention today. Peeps, prep yourself to laugh your ass off to Diamond Dave's raspy, theatrical chops on "Runnin' With the Devil."

Don't be alarmed by the pauses. Just wait for those ooohhhhhhh aahhhhaiiiiahhhh moments. But seriously, despite the dude's lame clothing and cheesy stage antics, DLR was great ... in 1985. Hey, will he return to being a paramedic after his stint on the road with Van Halen?

For now, enjoy Diamond Dave as we knew him best.

But what I wanna know is where's "Hot for Teacher?"

Return of the MacK

It's been 365 days since I last posted on MacKenzieLand. Weird? Random? Planned? Who knows? Really, I never "planned" to stop blogging, but like John Lennon says, "Life is what happens when you're making other plans."

So yeah, 365 days exactly. Since leaving my personal web gabbin' behind, the Sultan and I left the Mitten State for the hustle and bustle of New York City. Between finding a place in the coolest borough EVER (Astoria, yo!), adjusting to new gigs, and exploring the city that never sleeps, I needed a bit more shut-eye. We've also become fierce book-reading machines. Call us square... but I suppose that's what we are.

But let me not forget the reason why we're all here: the RAWK! Having had the opportunity to venture to SXSW, Bonnaroo, Virgin Fest in Baltimore, and Vegoose - wowsa! My rock'n'roll heart never experienced so much radness, thus my blogging fun disappeared from the priority list altogether.

Welcome to 2008! I'm not one for New Year resolutions, but what the hell, it's a New Year and new plans must be set in motion mwahahahaha! Oh yeah, the Sultan and I got engaged right before Christmas. Now we're even bigger nerds. Eh, getting older ain't so bad ... right? Thirty schmirty. It's more like turning 20-10 or "30 is the new 20" or whatever lamesauce crap people want to say about getting older. I say welcome to the dirty thirties, my dear friends! Mwahahahaha! (yes, I said it again)

Who knows what will fill these white pages... I suppose it'll be a little bit of this (rock, videos, tunes) and a little bit of that (food, NYC, Michigan State, books, and whatever else I think is cool). But I do have some serious housecleaning to do. Bare with me for a couple of days.

To whomever reads this blog thing, hello! I'm back! Thanks for reading!
* Thanks to the Sultan for his blogging expertise.
* An extra special thanks to my Dad for thinking whatever I do is pretty cool.
